With tomato season just around the corner, here are a couple of quick tips on proper storage. Robust in flavor as they may be, fresh tomatoes are delicate creatures when it comes to keeping them.

To store fresh tomatoes, keep them in a cool (not cold), dry place out of direct sunlight. Do not refrigerate tomatoes, as cold temperatures (below 55 degrees) can mute their flavor and give the flesh a mealy feel.
