Papaya King, the legendary hot dog chain that was first opened in Manhattan by founder Gus Poulos in 1932, is opening a new location in Hollywood on Monday. L.A.’s Papaya King comes to us courtesy of nightlife and hotel king Sam Nazarian and his SBE hospitality group. Eventually customers will be able to walk through the restaurant to enter a bohemian rock club and lounge called the Sayers Club.

The menu is disarmingly simple, with most combos coming with two dogs, a tropical drink and curly fries. Toppings include sauerkraut, chili, sauteed onions, peppers, relish and cheese.

If you think about it, there couldn’t be a more American way to say, ‘Thank you for letting me live to see another day, and may there be many more days (and hot dogs smothered in chili) in my future.’
