Seen in a restaurant window in Berlin, the chef’s jacket of Albert Raurich autographed by the stellar team at El Bulli, where he was chef de cuisine for seven years. In 2007, he left to open an Asian tapas bar called Dos Palillos in Barcelona. He’s just opened a second Dos Palillos in Berlin, where I saw it.

No need for press clippings or reviews when you’ve got a jacket like that announcing just who you are. Hope it doesn’t get so much sun that the signatures fade. But then again, we’re talking Berlin, where the winter is long and gray.

Read about Raurich at Lisa Abend’s site. She’s the author of ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice: A Season in the Kitchen at Ferran Adrià’s El Bulli’ (Simon & Schuster, 2011, $26). More on the book later. I’m looking forward to reading it, but haven’t gotten to it yet.
