Coming May 21: It's the end of the world as we know it (What's your last supper?)

Did you hear the one about May 21 marking the end of the world? Bummer, huh? In case you haven't heard, there are some groups that believe the end of the world is this Saturday. Others believe God will destroy the Earth five months from this Saturday, which would be Oct. 21. Still others say it's Dec. 21. (Read more about the origination of these beliefs here.)

Well, I can't do much to stop this. So I've been dreaming up My Last Supper. I know this menu is a little haphazard, and doesn't technically go together, but, hey, it's my last dinner on Earth. Here's what I am thinking so far: I'm going to start with 16 or so margaritas at El Coyote. With salt, on ice, no mix, from scratch, please. (I know, I know. But I always leave a big tip to make up for my annoying ways.)

Then, I'll have someone -- hiccup -- drive me on over to Susan Feniger's Street for some salty sweet Kaya Toast, above, followed by her tempura-battered fried chicken. She doesn't always have this on the menu, but I am hoping that since this is, after all, the last supper, that she'll pull out all the stops.

For dessert, I'm going to have a huge 'ol slab of red velvet cake from my hometown favorite, Jongewaard's Bake 'N Broil in Long Beach. I might even ask them to make it with extra frosting. (Who's counting calories in the face of the apocalypse?)
