Nothing says ‘I love you’ like plying your date with French fries. The signal you’re sending is that no matter how much fried food he or she eats, you’ll stand by him or her. For better or for worse. For bigger or for smaller. In this image-conscious city, that’s a really sweet gesture.

And it’s one you can make this Valentine’s Day at Verdugo Bar as the gourmet French fry truck Frysmith checks in for a ‘One-Night Stand Dinner.’ Five creative courses will be served on the bar’s candlelighted patio. The seating is communal, so the set-up is perfect whether you want to bring a date or an entire group of friends.

The menu includes deep-fried oysters with fries and apple thyme ‘tartar’ sauce; shrimp, mustard greens and ginger egg drop soup; asparagus ‘fries’ with roasted red pepper hollandaise and pine nuts; grilled quail with hoisin balsamic figs, rosemary and sweet potato fries; and chocolate mousse parfait with berries, star anise and almond genoise.

Dinner is served at 7:30 p.m. and costs $27 in advance and $32 at the door. To buy tickets or just find out more, go to: www.eatfrysmith.com.
