Can you smell all the holiday cookies baking in the Test Kitchen?

Cookie1
It''s been all about cookies in the L.A. Times Test Kitchen. We've been testing our 10 favorite recipes submitted to our first ever Holiday Cooke Bake-Off, and photographing them.

Here's a quick breakdown of some of the ingredients we went through just this week as we made more than 50 dozen cookies:

  • 17 1/2 sticks (more than 4 pounds) of butter
  • 1 dozen eggs
  • 26 cups (almost 7 pounds) of flour
  • 2 1/2 pounds of sugar
  • Almost 1 1/2 pounds of powdered sugar
  • More than 1 pound of cream cheese

Stay tuned for the recipes. Our bake-off favorites are scheduled to be posted online Dec. 15 and in the Food section on Dec. 16.  Cheers!
