Turkey or treat? Here come the holidays
Yeah, I know, I'm not ready for them either. In fact, I haven't even bought my Halloween candy yet. But still, the holidays are coming and we're getting ready for them in the Food section. Here's a little tease of what you can look forward to come November. Got any ideas for us to work on?

How about a story on how the different ethnic groups in LA make Thanksgiving their own? My mother (Chinese) always makes a Chinese rub for the turkey, and uses Chinese ingredients in the dressing. Also we make jook with the bones. How about the other cultures? What do they do?

How about Thanksgiving dinner ideas for one, two, or even three-- not everybody chooses to go to a large gathering. For example, one year we prepared cornish hens.

Free range birds are all the rage, but do you need to cook the free range turkey differently from the big, plump monsters of my mothers kitchens?
How about some suggestions for turkey that aren't full bird, full day productions?

How about a piece on heritage turkeys? Is there any place in L.A. that sells them, or are we stuck with mail-order if we want something other than the Butterball-style broad-breasted turkey?
