Small Bites: Un-Curry pop-up restaurant. Mezze to open in Sona space. Taking walk-ins at Test Kitchen.

Indian, popping up: The Un-Curry Table claims to be L.A.’s first Indian pop-up restaurant. Chef Kaumudi Marathé has scheduled two dinners next month featuring her take on Indian cuisine. Her Un-Curry catering business and classes mix ‘seasonal, organic, California ingredients with Indian spices, culinary techniques and Ayurvedic philosophy.’ The menu (subject to change) includes dishes such as spiced chickpea flour rolls with fresh coconut and cilantro-mustard seed sauce; cilantro pesto shrimp (or paneer) with carrot slaw; tomato-coconut soup; biryani with basmati, beef, mint, cilantro and caramelized onions; okra stuffed with spices and coconut; and fresh mango pickle. For dessert, yogurt with saffron, nutmeg and mango-vanilla bean coulis, and cardamom-rosewater shortbread. Vegetarian menu available. Modern Mezze: Grub Street reports that chef Micah Wexler is planning to open a ‘pan-Middle Eastern’ restaurant called Mezze in the former Sona space on La Cienega Boulevard. Interior designer Waldo Fernandez is adding a patio and private room, according to Grub Street. A December opening is expected. 401 N. La Cienega Blvd., Los Angeles.

Walk-ins welcome: Don’t have reservations at Test Kitchen? The transitory restaurant with a rotating cast of chefs says that it has set aside a few tables for walk-ins for each night of service. On the schedule this month are chef Ricardo Zarate’s cebiche night (Oct. 20); Steve Samson and Zach Pollock (Oct. 21-23) with a six-course menu of regional Italian specialties from the Po River Valley; and Bricia Lopez, curating regional Mexican specialties for a dinner in honor of the Mexican Bicentennial (Oct. 27 to 30).
