Yea or nay: Lady Gaga's meat dress
By now, you've seen -- or at least heard -- about Lady Gaga's meat dress. She wore the getup -- which included a purse, hat and shoes -- to the VMAs in Los Angeles last night. And it was follow-up to the meat bikini she wore on the cover of Vogue Japan.
But we have so many questions!
And not just the usual questions, like, why did she wear a meat dress, or who made it. (But if you care to know, she said that she was protesting discrimination against gays and lesbians and that it was designed by Franc Fernandez.)
We really want to know: Where did she get the meat? What cut is that? What kind of undergarments do you wear with that? Did they keep it in a Styrofoam cooler? Did she actually sit in it? Did it leave meat stains on the seat? Who had to clean that up? Who got stuck sitting next to her? Did the dress get stinky? Wouldn't that start to attract maggots at some point? Did any dogs follow her?
I could go on and on.
And I also want to know: What do you think of the dress? Yea or nay?
And here's what PETA had to say about it:

Lady Gaga made headlines when she wore a dress made entirely of RAW MEAT, but here are several legendary rock stars that say the way to go is VEGETARIAN. Chrissie Hynde from "The Pretenders," Tony Kanal of "No Doubt," and Mike Ness, lead singer of "Social Distortion" spoke up in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAZYZkkpiqE

Donate the funds used to create the dress to a soup kitchen, shelter, or an organization in support of gays/lesbians in the military. A waste of money, meat, and media coverage. And it must've smelled.
But I don't understand how her dress ties together with the military's don't ask/don't tell policy.

Whats next body parts of humans? An outfit of eye balls, dead babies ? Really, come on whats next? I think she has gone to fare this time. Can you image what she smelled liked under the lights? Have a little respect for yourself and your family. I can just see grandma now, you go girl NOT! Where is PETA in all this, how come they haven't said any thing about it yet? I guess she can keep doing all this, since people just keep buying her albums. The only way to stop someone like this is in their pocket book.

Can you imagine how nasty that must have smelled once it became room temperature? I hope she showered as soon as she took that off. Nasty!

Ideally I would be a vegan, but I am not. I eat meat that has been humanely raised and processed. It is important to me that meat not be wasted since an animal had to die to provide it. In a world where something like one-sixth of the population is starving, this "meat dress" is unconscionable.

I think she is amazing...if she wants to wear meat LET her!! Gaby get off your high horse!

The meat was lacquered in plastic/sealant before she wore it.
Besides, vegans --- get off your high horses! The cow was already dead. It isn't like Gaga walked into the slaughterhouse and picked out which cow would become her red carpet dress. Geez. I'd think you all would want art over meat consumption.

it's interesting, weak concept.
@eamily : parents need to be responsible for their children, dont blame the media. topic over.

I thought this dress was fantastic...of course, it's not something people can wear, but it's great that she takes things to a whole new level. I don't see how it protests gay and lesbian rights either, but I just think she is being creative.
1) If people have such issues on who they look up to for role models, then it's the parent's responsibility to monitor what kids watch. No one should have to censor themselves because some parents are caught up on her barely there attire or if she kisses a girl.
2) Screw animal rights. If animals don't want to be eaten, they should learn how to buy a gun, hold it, and defend themselves. I don't feel sorry for the cow that ends up on my plate for dinner. Only America has made animal rights an issue. It's ridiculous how society values animal rights, but no one wants to value children's or human rights...but we care about a freakin cow?! Gimme a break!

You can have your meat and wear it too...

I'm not an animal lover or whatever. Animal cruelty? I don't think this dress is that. If you consider this animal cruelty, then everyone who eats animal products must be cruel to you. What's disgusting to me is the callous use of food as clothes when there are people without food in this country and other countries. It's a waste.

She's not unique at all and her music sucks! She's a manufactured mess. I would rather listen to *and stare at * old ass Grace jones and Bowie . her 15 minutes up yet?

What does a meat dress have to do with discrimination against gays and lesbians? I think she wore it, like everything she wears, to get attention, but not the kind I would seek. I wish the media would stop giving her so much attention - is that who we really want our children to have as role models?

I didn't think it was possible considering her past actions/choices, but Lady Gaga has definitely crossed a line and I have lost respect for her. I thought she was an animal rights' activist; apparently I heard wrong!!! This is disgusting and a disgrace, and up until now I had appreciated her unique outfits because I felt they each had made an artistic statement. But now I feel only contempt towards her, because the only message I get out of this outfit is support of animal cruelty.
How dare you, Lady Gaga.

Actually this kind of inspire me to make dress out of cooked bacon. You know, it's a snack AND a dress!

I think the Cattlemen's Beef Board may be interested in talking to her about a spokeswoman spot... Lady Gaga: It's what's for dinner.
