4 food events you should know about: L.A. Street Food Fest, Hungry Cat’s Gulf Benefit, ‘Power of Miso,’ more Ludo Bites 5.0

July 24: The L.A. Street Food Fest takes place at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on Saturday, with 60 vendors including Antojitos Carmen, Cemitas y Clayudas Pal Cabron, Dim Sum Truck, Mo-Chica, Grilled Cheese Truck and Ta Bom. General-admission tickets are already sold out, but there are still some VIP tickets available. (Tickets are available in advance only, not at the door.) The VIP ticket, at $65, gets you early entrance during a preview hour from 4 to 5 p.m. and special parking; there will be unlimited samples of eats and drinks, a photo booth and performances by Warpaint and the Deadly Syndrome. 4 to 5 p.m. preview, 5:30 to 9 p.m. general admission. July 24: On Saturday, reservations for the remaining weeks of Ludo Lefebvre’s pop-up restaurant LudoBites 5.0 at Gram & Papas will open at 9:30 a.m. Reservations will be available at www.ludobites.com and are provided by OpenTable. The remaining dates are Aug. 4 to Sept. 3 (Monday to Friday nights). Ludo Bites will be closed Aug. 19 and 20.

July 27: A share of the sales from the Hungry Cat’s Gulf Benefit on Tuesday will go to the ‘Adopt a Fisherman’ relief fund, an effort to help those who have lost their livelihoods because of the oil spill. The menu includes a full raw bar with crawfish and head-on shrimp; gem lettuces with blue crab, egg, buttermilk and mustard; oysters en brochette; alligator beignets; gumbo with shrimp, crab and andouille sausage; trout amandine; soft-shell crab po’ boy; pan-roasted soft-shell crawfish, grits and fried green tomatoes; and blackened redfish with corn puree, succotash and crab pearls. July 29: The next dinner in Breadbar’s Hatchi series stars Makoto Okuwa of Sashi Sushi & Sake Lounge, titled ‘The Power of Miso.’ The featured ingredient? Um, miso.
