The Manila Machine rolls out at Art Walk; Debbie Lee to debut Ahn-Joo food truck at L.A. Film Fest

AhnjooMobile Korean pub food will soon be brought to Southern Californians by chef Debbie Lee (who appeared on the "The Next Food Network Star"); her Ahn-Joo food truck will make its debut at the Los Angeles Film Festival, June 18 to 26. After its debut, Lee's Korean-inspired cuisine goes on the road Tuesdays through Saturdays, hitting Santa Monica, Hollywood, downtown and Orange County (Twitter: @AhnJooLA, for locations). Ahn-Joo, which is Korean for “snack,” will offer a modern twist on traditional sool jeep, or pub cuisine, priced at $3 to $7. Menu items include: grilled skewers, bacon-wrapped rice cakes with jalapeño ponzu and Lee's Korean nachos (fried rice cakes, chili queso, soy-braised pork and kimchee salsa), dumplings and “Mama Lee’s Meatloaf.” Meanwhile, Lee's also planning to open her Korean-inspired pub this summer. Los Angeles Film Festival Village at L.A. Live’s event deck, June 18 to 26, 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. weekdays and 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Food bloggers Nastassia Johnson (Let Me Eat Cake) and Marvin Gapultos (Burnt Lumpia) have joined forces to serve Filipino street food and home cooking. There are, of course, classic chicken adobo (braised in vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, bay and pepper) and lumpia,  plus sliders served on pan de sal, Filipino bread rolls, filled with pork and garlic sausage patties, caramelized onions, arugula and mango jam, or sweet kalamansi beef, achara slaw and spicy sriracha. Among the desserts are sweet banana lumpia served with ice cream. Twitter: @manilamachine, for locations.

Ahn-joo actually refers to the snack eaten with alcohol.
