I have just one regret from having spent a summer in the Loire Valley as a teenager: It’s not having eaten nearly enough cheese. (I also skipped French class to hang out by the pool but don’t feel that bad about it.) Here’s an opportunity to help make up for all that missed cheese -- though who among us doesn’t need more French cheese, anyway? The Alliance Francaise of Los Angeles is hosting a Loire Valley cheese and wine class at Andrew’s Cheese Shop in Santa Monica this month. Cheese guru Andrew Steiner focuses on understanding and appreciating what makes the seasonal cheeses of the Loire special. May 20, 7:30 p.m. $30 for Alliance members, $35 for non-members. Reservations required. To RSVP, send an e-mail to adminafdela@gmail.com.

Andrew’s Cheese Shop, 728 Montana Ave., Santa Monica.
