One corner, many trucks: The debut of Gourmet Food Truck Corner; Kogi, the restaurant

Truck

The not-so-alluringly-named but highly-welcomed Gourmet Food Truck Corner kicked off today at the corner of 14th Street and Santa Monica Boulevard in Santa Monica.

It's the gathering place for several food trucks (such as Asian Soul, Barbie's Q, Border Grill, Cool Haus, Dainty Cakes, Don Chow Tacos, Fishlips Sushi, Grilled Cheese Truck, India Jone Chow, Kogi BBQ, Lomo Arigato and Nom Nom, according to a flier), Monday to Saturday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. For information on what trucks are showing up: @SMFoodtrucklot on Twitter. Looks as if there's a schedule here too.

Who knows? It might be the best time you've had in a parking lot since 11th grade.

Meanwhile, Food & Wine's Kate Krader reports that Kogi will be opening a restaurant in West L.A., "on Overland, to be precise," set for a February launch. Roy Choi tells her that it will be a diner featuring rice bowls; the plates will be mismatched, he points out.
