Top picks for last-minute New Year's Eve options

It's 4:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve and still no plans? A few last-minute options to at least get the party started:

The Varnish: Until 9:30 p.m., Champagne cocktails for $9. (The 10 p.m. countdown requires an advance reservation). 118 E. 6th St., Los Angeles, (213) 622-9999.

Akasha: There's still space available for the early seating (between 5:30 and 7 p.m.) if you want some of Akasha Richmond's Southern favorites: gumbo, grits, fried oysters, black-eyed peas, etc. Three courses including a dessert buffet, $60. 9543 Culver Blvd., Culver City, (310) 845-1700.

Petrossian: If you want to start your evening with a little caviar, foie gras and filet mignon, there are still seatings available at 6 p.m. (The 9 p.m. party has been canceled.) $95 for six courses. 321 N. Robertson Blvd., West Hollywood, (310) 271-0576.

Seven Grand: $8 Manhattans til 9 p.m. Also available: reserved seating for two, $140 (bottle of Perrier-Jouët or Sazerac rye) and $180 (bottle of Perrier-Jouët "La Fleur" or Blanton's single-barrel bourbon). 515 W. 7th St., Los Angeles, (213) 614-0737.

Copa d'Oro: It's open from 8 p.m. on both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. For New Year's Eve, table service is available ($25 per person with a minimum of four guests at standard tables). 217 Broadway, Santa Monica, (310) 576-3030.
