Vegan Month of Food recipe: Basic romesco sauce
When we first published this recipe for a classic romesco sauce, readers went nuts for it. It remained on the "most e-mailed" list for quite some time, and it's easy to see why.
It's a great dip for entertaining, or slathering on a sandwich.
It's our vegan recipe for the day -- just make sure you're using an appropriate vegan substitute for the white bread.

Wait, I missed something, what's not vegan about bread? Is yeast considered an "animal"???

My family and I are glad that the Los Angeles Times is publishing vegan recipes. We look forward to seeing more unique and sumptuous vegan alternatives because frankly, it is real hard to swallow animal products now, if we can just imagine that it is ourselves or our children that are being killed for meat. Thanks again, LA Times, for doing the right thing by promoting vegan recipes. The more, the merrier!
