Talking Turkey, believe it or not

I walked into a supermarket in late August, and came face-to-face with a skeleton. The plastic kind. It wasn't even Labor Day, and kids were still out of school, but the stores were already pushing Halloween candy and decorations.

Well, now we're fast-forwarding right past Halloween to talk Thanksgiving. That's right, Thanksgiving: The L.A. Times' Travel & Deal blog has the inside track on "Bird on a Boat."

It's amazing how quickly stores are getting holiday items on the shelves. I remember seeing quite a few Christmas items out during the end of July!
