This pie's for you, from chef Evan Kleiman
If you listen to Evan Kleiman's Saturday radio show, "Good Food" on KCRW, you probably know that's she's in a pie frenzy. She decided to bake a pie every day this summer.
But one pie just wasn't enough, it seems. On Tuesday, she's baking a slew of pies for a Pie-a-Day appearance on the KTLA's morning news show. And pie lovers can stop by her Melrose Avenue restaurant to buy a slice after 11:30 a.m., when the cameras are gone.
Kleiman, the chef/owner of Angeli Caffe is bringing her countertop oven from home to the Angeli kitchen for the shoot. Her home wasn't big enough for the camera crew and equipment.
Here are the pies Kleiman is considering: tomato with cheddar/garlic streusel, strawberry, peach, coconut cream, blueberry, key lime and black raspberry.

Props to photographer Kirk McCoy for that beautiful picture. I admit I clicked on this article because the photo of that pie made my mouth water. I've never heard of Evan Kleiman, but now I'll have to stop by the shop on Melrose just to buy a slice!
