Guacamole from Rosa MexicanoRosa Mexicano: The first West Coast outpost of upscale Mexican chain Rosa Mexicano opens at L.A. Live this Friday. It has the usual tacos, enchiladas, flautas, quesadillas, plantains and guacamole (which comes in a molcajete), but it also features less common options like layered duck tortilla pie topped with creamy habanero sauce; salmon fillet with tropical fruit mole; and roasted duck breast served over mashed chile de árbol sweet potatoes. 800 W. La Cachette Bistro: Chef Jean Francois Meteigner interprets Cal-French bistro fare at La Cachette Bistro, which opens this Saturday, for dinner and kicks off lunch and brunch service on Aug. 24. Accompanied by produce from the Santa Monica Farmers Market, Meteigner’s menu includes duck breast with ginger rub; buffalo short ribs with coffee rub and Cabernet jus, and lightly smoked Alaskan true cod with organic salmon sausage. Mixologist Mark D. has created several house cocktails including the Rhubarb Bellini and the Iceberg, the latter made with pear vodka, apricot liquor and ice cream.
