Nancy Silverton and Amy Pressman guest chef at Canele
Tomorrow from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m., Nancy Silverton (of Mozza fame) and Amy Pressman, former owner of Old Town Bakery in Pasadena, will guest chef at Canele in Atwater Village. They'll be serving up a menu of burgers as a sort of preview for fans and potential investors in the new burger restaurant, tentatively called Grass Burger, that the pair hope to open shortly in the Farmers Market on Fairfax. Pressman says that the contracts haven't been signed yet, but she's fairly sure that the deal will go through. Reps from the Farmers Market are expected to attend the event. Canele chef Corina Weibel will also be cooking.
The dinner at Canele is prix fixe and includes a Weiser Farms melon salad; a choice of a Sonoma grass-fed beef cheeseburger or a Sonoma grass-fed beef burger topped with a fried egg and frisee; and a fig-milk-chocolate-bourbon ice cream dessert. The cost is $36.
Canele, 3219 Glendale Blvd., Atwater Village. (323) 666-7133. www.canele-la.com.

Photo: Nancy Silverton, one of L.A.'s best chefs and the founder of La Brea Bakery, has a thing about hamburgers. They have to be perfect, the right meat, seasoned just so, the right bun, with a stack of crisp iceberg lettuce -- and amazing tomatoes are very important. Credit: Los Angeles Times

'Mouth-watering menu; great chef-duo!! And clearly sustainable.
