San Francisco has a rotisserie chicken truck, a crème brûlée cart and even an escargot truck. Austin, Texas, has Hey Cupcake!, which serves gourmet cupcakes out of an Airstream trailer, and the Mighty Cone, which serves deep-fried avocado, shrimp and chicken coated in a mix that includes cornflakes, sesame seeds and almonds. Seattle’s Maximus Minimus truck serves pulled pork out of a spectacular, pig-shaped truck (think Piggly Wiggly meets ‘Mad Max’). And New York, which has long revered its hot dog and halal carts, now has a dumpling truck, an upscale Indian food truck and a Big Gay Ice Cream Truck that claims to serve ‘the queerest dairy treats in NYC.’ (A soft-serve ice cream vendor that didn’t offer rainbow sprinkles -- that would be revolutionary.)

What does Los Angeles have? Everything from Hawaiian shave ice to gourmet vegan sausages to sushi rolls to chicken skewers to organic ice cream and, of course, all manner of fusion tacos. Click here for our most current list of L.A.’s nouveau food trucks -- to be updated frequently.
