Like restaurant week but with shopping, South Coast Plaza celebrates the opening day of its third annual "Fashion Plates" promotion with 13 participating restaurants offering $20 three-course lunches and $40 four-course dinners. Paso Robles kicks off its 17th annual Zinfandel Festival, which includes a "Reserve" tasting featuring specialty reserve barrels from participating wineries paired with appetizers from local restaurants; a wine-country auction; and a grand tasting. Pass the cheese, please. San Antonio Winery in Los Angeles classes up your weekend with its "Pairing Wine With Cheese" wine-tasting seminar. It's a straightforward concept that involves seven wines and as many dishes, including pecorino Toscano with roasted peppers and arugula purée and Gorgonzola dolce with lavender honey for dessert. San Antonio Winery, 737 Lamar St., Los Angeles, noon to 3 p.m. $75. (323) 223-1401, ext. 8745. www.sanantoniowinery.com.
