Burger King debuts Whopper Bar

Heard on the radio this morning: Somewhere between KPCC's Steve Julian talking about stem cell research and President Obama discussing his education program, an NPR announcer said that Burger King introduced its new Whopper Bar today in Orlando, Fla., where diners can customize their Whoppers and Steakhouse XT burgers with up to 22 different toppings (such as bacon, guacamole and steak sauce).

As the Associated Press describes it, Burger King workers add toppings "in a sushi bar-like atmosphere." Burger King Holdings Inc. plans to roll out up to 20 more Whopper Bars around the world in the next 12 to 18 months, including one in Munich, Germany, this summer.
