This year Valentine’s Day falls on a Saturday, which is either a good thing, or a very bad thing, depending on your reservation-getting skills. While the fortuitous timing for lovers (you can stay out late and not have to worry about work in the morning) all but guarantees a busy night for established restaurants, it also means reservations are going to be tough to get--especially for that coveted table for two around 8:30 p.m.

Given the dismal state of the economy, many restaurants probably wish the holiday fell on a Sunday. That would guarantee two busy nights in a row. But alas, this year, it’s all about Saturday night. So we thought we’d take the pulse of a few well-known area restaurants just to see if it’s still possible this late in the game to score an 8:30 reservation for Valentine’s Day.
