The Kogi Korean BBQ taco truck gets a brick-and-mortar location.

Kogithumb The youthful family team behind the social-networking phenom known as the Kogi Korean BBQ taco truck has found a brick-and-mortar location for their popular Korean-Mexican fusion fare. Beginning next week, probably on the 18th or 19th, Kogi will permanently take over the kitchen at David Reiss' Alibi Room. Reiss and Kogi co-owner Mark Manguera have been discussing the idea for quite some time now, but verified the deal in separate phone conversations earlier this week. Right now Kogi parks in front of Reiss' Brig in Venice and at the Alibi Room on different nights of the week.

Currently Kogi operates two trucks and has plans to roll out a third. It's unlikely that the Alibi Room will remain Kogi's only immobile location, as we reported in a story in this week's Food section; Cedd Moses' 213 group has expressed interest in doing something similar with Kogi in downtown L.A. For the time being Kogi will park in front of Moses' Broadway bar on Tuesday nights and in front of the Golden Gopher on Wednesday nights.

On Feb. 18, Kogi is making an exclusive appearance at Moses' members-only club the Doheny. The Doheny's general manager Steve Livigni and barman Daniel Nelson are working with chef Choi to create creative cocktail pairings to match Kogi's unique fare. For example, knowing that Choi loves sesame, Nelson is working on a vodka/sesame cocktail that will enhance the taste of spicy kimchi.

Reiss'S. APOSTROPHE-S. Don't tell me the LA Times style guide is omitting this crucial possessive distinction.
