Super Bowl Monday -- a national holiday?

February 3, 2009 |  1:23 pm

Let the campaigning begin.

SuperBowlMonday.com has started a petition to designate the day after the Super Bowl a national holiday and offers suggested names, including "Super Monday," "Day of Champions," "All American Day," "Lombardi Day"... and, our favorite, "National Recovery Day."

The site also offers a bunch of food, social, media and economic facts, including this one: "Americans will eat an estimated 20 million pounds of potato and tortilla chips and eight million pounds of avocados," bringing sales of antacid up by 20% over the (holiday?) weekend.
