Earlier this week, we spoke with Kris Keith, honcho of design firm Spacecraft, who said he was opening a trendy Japanese-themed club called Rei in the old Shag space in Hollywood. Today, Metromix reported on the forthcoming club. However, after e-mailing one of Shag’s owners, Terroni‘s Shereen Arazm, we’re not sure this is set in stone quite yet. ‘I did sell Parc but did NOT sell Shag, contrary to popular belief,’ she told the Daily Dish earlier this week (and reconfirmed Wednesday). We’ll update you when we know more.

Meanwhile, Keith’s firm has been busy working on the Parc space, which will become Essex this spring. The forthcoming Hollywood hang (Eater LA has it that the bar will open in March) will emerge as a ‘Boston-style pub,’ Keith told us earlier this week. Expect lots of exposed brick. He also told us the new name of another beer-themed eatery, Public House, which is expected to open sometime this year on North Cahuenga at Selma Avenue (in the old Karma Coffeehouse space).

Updated at 6:32 p.m.: Just off the phone with Kris Keith, who told us: ‘I have the keys to the space.’ We are still looking into the matter of ownership, but who wouldn’t love any Japanese-themed bar -- especially if beautiful Asian women are involved in any shape or form?
