'Top Chef': Taking one for the team [Update]

January 29, 2009 |  1:01 pm

JeffFans of the "hut hut" probably had plenty to be excited about during Wednesday night's "Super Bowl" (or "Bowl of Oats") edition of "Top Chef," especially upon seeing helmets and pork together.

The "Quick Fire Challenge" was to use oats [insert subliminal ad for the brand of oats that begins with a "Q" here] with meat, dairy, vegetables, fruit, seafood, nuts and grains, etc. Carla went for the nuts.

But the "Elimination Challenge" -- a cook-off involving "touchdowns" and something called a "field goal" -- brought tragedy. Jeff, we'll miss your hair!

Meanwhile, Toby Young seems to have calmed down in his criticisms -- he's no longer finding "weapons of mass destruction" in his food. He probably got a talking-to from Padma.

Correction: An earlier version of this post stated that Carla won the "Quick Fire Challenge"; it was Stefan.
