Run away from the errands and holiday confusion this Saturday and do something fun: Head up to Santa Barbara for Wine Cask’s annual sparkling wine tasting. The event runs from noon to 3 p.m. and costs $65 per person (reservations required). That afternoon Wine Cask chef John Petitt will whip up some light hors d’oeuvres to accompany some 16 bubblies from around the world. The selection includes some heavy French hitters, namely Veuve Clicquot Le Grand Dame, Krug Grand Cru and Dom Ruinart, along with sparkling wines from Italy, Spain, Germany and some bottles from our own wine country.

Wine Cask, 813 Anacapa Street, Santa Barbara, reservations (805) 966-9463; $65 per person.
