Bacon: A marriage proposal made in hog heaven

My quest to find 1,001 things to do with bacon has struck a nerve. Thanks also to all have written so far -- the list is well on its way, so keep checking back at this blog. The outpouring has so far resulted in one marriage proposal. (Thanks so much, Jeff, but I'm taken.)

This e-mail arrived with the subject line: Marry Me!

Oh my gosh I LOVED your column this morning! If I didn't actually respect your better half for giving you bacon for Christmas I would pursue the marriage proposal harder.

I know there are a lot of bacon of the month clubs on line but I was wondering if you could recommend 1 or 2 that I could tell people to give me for Christmas. Since you have proven your expertise at this I figured that you knew of the better clubs on-line.

Thanks so much for the e-mail! Grateful Palate probably has the most well-known bacon-of-the-month club.  Haven't participated in it myself -- yet -- though I've sampled some of its artisan bacon varieties.  Mmmm ... wonderful!  And if your friends won't splurge for the club, the site also has a number of thoughtful and very imaginative bacon-related gifts.
