Ferran Adrià whirls through L.A. to promote his new book, ‘A Day at El Bulli,’ with stops at the Cook’s Library (to sign books), a party at S-Bar (more book signings) and Spago for a media lunch (yet more signing of books), before heading off to Sydney, Australia (where he’ll probably sign more books).

When Adrià arrives for lunch at Wolfgang Puck’s Beverly Hills restaurant, it’s no surprise that Puck stops in to say hello to ‘the world’s best chef.’ (Pictured above: Adrià, his tireless translator, Puck and chef José Andrés.) Rosé Champagne is passed around, hands are shaken; but then Puck puts his hands to his head, and admits: ‘I can’t believe I’ve never been to your restaurant!’

Well, like the book jacket says: ‘2,000,000 requests for 8,000 places every year.’

Adrià trivia: When asked by the waiter at the beginning of the meal, ‘Does anyone have any allergies or is there anything that one can’t eat?,’ Adrià’s answer is:

No red or green peppers.
