On Sunday, as the nation observes the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, a number of cultural groups around Southern California will be holding concerts and performances to commemorate the solemn occasion.

Many of the performances are free to the public. The performance duo Eiko & Koma will present the West Coast premiere of ‘Water,’ a dance piece set in and around the reflecting pool at the Skirball Cultural Center. Performances will take place Friday and Sunday at 8:30 p.m. (‘Water’ debuted at Lincoln Center in New York earlier this year.)

In downtown L.A., the Angeles Chorale will hold a memorial concert at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels -- featuring a performance of Fauré’s ‘Requiem’ -- on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.

Other Sept. 11-related events are scattered throughout the area, from Santa Barbara to San Diego. Here is a list of some of the major concerts and performances in Southern California.
