Cast of 'Les Miserables' parodies Jay-Z and Alicia Keys

July 27, 2011 |  4:11 pm

Cast members of the 25th-anniversary national tour of "Les Misérables," currently at the Ahmanson Theatre through July 31, recently took time out of their performance schedule to create an online music video in which they parody the pop hit "Empire State of Mind," by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys.

Actors Andrew Varela and Chasten Harmon play their respective characters, Javert and Éponine, while channeling the pop stars with lyrics that have been altered to reflect the plot of the musical.

The video, which you can watch above, was shot around the Music Center fountain in downtown L.A. And continue reading to watch the original Jay-Z version.
