Critic's Notebook: A nonprofit theater education

June 11, 2011 |  6:00 am

Lloyd richards
Theater Communications Group is holding its national conference in Los Angeles from June 16 to 18. Professionals from the nonprofit theater world will be gathering to discuss, among other concerns, the health of the institutional theater scene.

The agenda will no doubt be crowded. Consternation over the commercial direction many institutional theaters have been heading in over the last few years wouldn’t be amiss.

For the occasion, I take a stroll down memory lane, reflecting on my own career in nonprofit theater and the values I gained along the way. To read this Sunday Arts & Books critic's notebook, click here.
