Casting cancellations for Tour de Force II at Segerstrom Center for the Arts
The all-star ballet production "Tour de Force II" at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts has lost two of its stars.
A spokeswoman for the Segerstrom said that Russian dancers Natalia Osipova and Ivan Vasiliev have withdrawn from the production as a result of commitments with the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow. As a result, the production will drop the Gioachino Rossini piece, "Pas de Deux" by Leonid Jacobson, from the program.
Organizers are also working on finding replacements for the "Don Quixote" pas de deux that was also supposed to feature Osipova and Vasiliev.
"Tour de Force II" will run for one night, on Thursday at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa. The production is scheduled to feature dancers including Diana Vishneva, Marcelo Gomes, Joaquin De Luz, Tiler Peck, Denis Matvienko, Anastasia Matvienko and Guillaume Côté.
The production consists of highlights from famous ballets as well as more recent works. The first "Tour de Force" played in Costa Mesa in 2009.

wow..that had to be one of the worst ballet performances I have ever seen. Between the wedgies, badly timed choreography, no music starting until a minute or two into the performance, what tops the cake is the stage hand just hanging out on the side of the stage waiting to bring the piano out while two dancers are on the stage......
The music at some points were like nails on a chalkboard.
the best part of the evening was the pianist.
