Scripps College is organizing a ‘memorial/party’ to celebrate the life of longtime professor Paul Soldner, the ceramic artist and innovator who died earlier this week.

The event, open to the public, will take place Saturday at 4 p.m. on campus at Seal Court. Ceramic artist John Mason; Mary MacNaughton, director of the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery on campus; and writer Elaine Levin are expected to speak.

Kirk Delman, the gallery collections manager, says he expects the talks to last an hour ‘and then we will have a party until the last person is standing, because that’s what Paul would have liked.’
