Theatre @ Boston Court announces lineup for 2010 new play festival

The Theatre @ Boston Court in Pasadena announced Thursday the lineup for its annual new play festival, called ‘Play/Ground.’ The festival will take place Dec. 11 and 12, and will feature staged readings of four new plays.

The selections for this year’s festival are ‘Creation’ by Kathryn Walat, ‘Alleluia, the Road’ by Luis Alfaro, ‘Underground’ by Brian James Polak and ‘Sense of an Ending’ by Ken Urban.

This year’s selections were made by the company’s literary managers, Aaron Henne and Brett Webster, working with artistic directors Jessica Kubzansky and Michael Michetti.

“Creation” will be read Dec. 11 at 11 a.m., followed by “Alleluia, the Road” at 3 p.m. the same day. “Underground” will be read Dec. 12 at 11 a.m. followed by “Sense of an Ending” at 2 p.m. All of the readings will take place at the company’s stage in Pasadena.

The Theatre @ Boston Court was recently recognized with a total of 17 nominations for the Ovation Awards, L.A.’s top theater honor. It received more nominations than any other company for the season. The winners for the Ovations will be announced Jan. 17 at a ceremony at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.
