Lin-Manuel Miranda, Nathan Lane and other Broadway stars create 'It gets better' video
November 3, 2010 | 8:55
You don't normally see this many Broadway stars gathered together unless it's the Tony Awards. But the recent series of gay-teen suicides around the country has spurred New York's theater community to create its own "It gets better" video, aimed at fostering tolerance and support for gay youth.
The video features appearances by 63 theater artists, gay and straight -- Lin-Manuel Miranda, Nathan Lane, Audra McDonald, Cherry Jones, Denis O'Hare, Marc Shaiman, Moisés Kaufman, Terrence McNally, Karen Olivo and more.
Miranda, the Tony-winning star of "In the Heights," says in the video that the "very thing that makes you different in high school is the thing that makes you exceptional as an adult."
The video is presented by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, Broadway.com and Broadway Impact.
