Stew, back from Broadway

When Culture Monster last heard from Stew (nee Mark Stewart), he was working on Broadway with his critically lauded indie rock musical, ‘Passing Strange.’ Spike Lee’s film of the production was seen on PBS and opened the Downtown Film Festival-Los Angeles.

In Saturday’s Calendar, Scott Timberg catches up with the native Angeleno to hear about his two L.A. concerts with his band the Negro Problem, the first time the songs from ‘Passing Strange’ will be performed live in his hometown.
