Ravi Shankar, the venerated sitar musician, has pulled out of his scheduled Wednesday concert at Walt Disney Concert Hall due to illness, according to the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

The orchestra said that ticket holders will be contacted as soon as a new concert date is confirmed. Tickets for the Oct. 20 concert will be valid for entry on the new concert date. Shankar was set to perform as part of the orchestra’s world music series.

The musician is currently in the midst of a tour, with daughter Anoushka Shankar, celebrating his 90th birthday. His next scheduled appearance is at the Mesa Arts Center, near Phoenix, Ariz. A spokeswoman for the center said the concert on Saturday is still set to take place.

Future engagements on Shankar’s tour include San Francisco, Chicago, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
