Fall arts preview: critics' picks in art, dance, music, theater and architecture
The weather in Southern California might have been feeling like autumn for weeks now, but we at Culture Monster live by the arts calendar. And only now does the season truly beckon.
No matter the challenges of the reeling economy, arts institutions this fall are still taking risks, calling out the star wattage and ready to wow us. Check out the range of picks from Mark Swed (music), Charles McNulty (theater), Christopher Knight (art), Christopher Hawthorne (architecture) and David Ng (dance and performance).

Either LA theatre is absolutely pathetic, or Mr McNulty is too lazy to find out what is actually going on this Fall.
Leap of Faith and the "musical" with nary a new song to speak of by Randy Newman? THOSE are the HIGHLIGHTS this Fall in LA theatre? Sheesh.
Redcat, Geffen, Colony, all of NOHO, Boston Court, A Noise Within and Actor's Gang must all be dark in the coming months.
