Free love, free drugs ... and now, free tickets too.

The current Broadway production of ‘Hair’ began life as a free production in New York’s Central Park. On Friday, the hit revival will go back to its free roots by giving away 500 tickets to the June 11 evening performance. Promoters of the show said that the first 500 people in line at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre at 10 a.m. on Friday will each receive a free ticket for that evening.

‘Hair’ is scheduled to play its final performance on June 27. The production won the 2009 Tony Award for best musical revival after having played as part of the Public Theater’s annual New York Shakespeare Festival in Central Park.

Directed by Diane Paulus, the show is scheduled to tour the country beginning in October. The touring production will run at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood from Jan. 5 to 23.

By the time it closes on Broadway, the revival of ‘Hair’ will have played for 519 regular performances, promoters said.
