Theatergoers who missed the world premiere of Rajiv Joseph’s ‘Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo’ at the Kirk Douglas Theatre last year will get another chance to see the production -- with the original cast and creative team -- when it arrives at the Mark Taper Forum in April.

Joseph’s tale -- by turns poetic, comic and disturbing -- weaves the stories of American soldiers, Iraqi civilians, a few ghosts and a tiger caught up in the turmoil caused by the Iraq war.

The show, which will run from April 14 through May 30, will be directed by Moises Kaufman and will feature Glenn Davis, Brad Fleischer, Arian Moayed, Kevin Tighe, Hrach Titizian, Sheila Vand and Necar Zadegan.

Transferring the show from the 317-seat Douglas in Culver City to the 736-seat Taper downtown ‘allows a much wider audience to experience this important play,’ says Neel Keller, an associate producer for the Center Theatre Group, which oversees both venues.

Times theater critic Charles McNulty called the Douglas production a ‘groundbreaking drama, which is animated by a top-notch cast with breathtaking vitality.’
