Art Center College of Design is mourning the death of Norman Schureman, a faculty member who was shot to death Sunday after an argument at a Persian New Year party in Westlake Village.

Schureman, 51, taught illustration, product design and industrial design at the Pasadena institution where he had earned his degree and was the son of faculty member Robert Schureman.

Lorne M. Buchman, the school’s president, recalled Schureman on the Art Center website as a ‘celebrated and adored member of our community,’ and one of the slain professors’ students said that ‘Norm teaches us how to have fun in life. He took us out to the bars, the museums, the zoo and all the coolest places to find inspirations.’

A report of the killing is here.
