A trove of Wrightiana is coming to Los Angeles.

At its local outpost on Sunset Boulevard, the auction house Bonhams & Butterfields will hold a Valentine’s Day sale of 600 items by or related to Frank Lloyd Wright, all from the collection of architectural historian Henry-Russell Hitchcock. The pieces -- to be sold as a group, with an estimate of $20,000 to $30,000 -- include photographs and building plans from the period Wright spent in Los Angeles, including several showing the Ennis House (1924) and the Hollyhock House (1921). Hitchcock acquired the items while working with Wright on the massive book ‘In the Nature of Materials,’ which was published in 1942 and long considered among the definitive works on Wright’s architecture.
