Fantasia adds performances to 'Color Purple' run at Pantages
Having recovered from a recent vocal cord illness, Fantasia is set to resume the role of Celie in "The Color Purple" starting Tuesday evening at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, organizers of the show said.
In addition, the actress has added appearances to her run in order to make up for her missed performances over the weekend. Fantasia will now perform during the Sunday matinee shows on Feb. 21 and 28, which had originally been her time off.
In a statement, Fantasia said that she was "overjoyed to get the OK from my doctor and new vocal coach to come back and perform.”
The star thanked her "fans, supporters and friends for their thoughts and prayers during this very challenging time."
Fantasia had to cancel weekend appearances in "The Color Purple" due to an inflammation of the vocal cords. Organizers of the show said that both her physician, Dr. John Sugerman, and vocal coach, Ron Anderson, have given the green light for her to resume the performance schedule and to add the two performances.

Fantasia you did this in New York, and now L.A. My daughter and I paid a lot of money to fly to NYC from La to see you perform. It was a big deal for me and suppose to be a big night. I "was" a fan. We were so disappointed when you were a "no show". Now you are missing performances in L.A. If you are ill then why do you continue to let people pay big bucks to see you knowing good and well you may not perform. Quit taking our hard earned money. Signed A FAN No More!

OBVIOUS way for Fantasia to get publicity. This is the dumbest thing. ALL stars get hate mail and have security. But only Fantasia announces it as if it's something new. And then says, "I won't let one isolated person defeat me"
Bull! She is already defeated due to her music being a flop and fading into oblivion. The only thing that brought her back to the head lines was this dumb story which is likely rigged..

O.K. people, actors get sick - grow up. Now, instead of whinning and complaining, here is something I bet you did not know. Because Fantasia has "star" billing, you can go to the box office before the show starts and tell them you want your tickets immediately refunded or switched to a date when she will be performing. Under equity rules, the box office MUST, at least, refund the ticket. After all, you paid, in essence, to see the star. Now, you know. And, knowing is half the battle. Had you asked at the theatre, somebody may have helped you.
But, you know what? I bet the standby was really good too!
