With interest in Michael Jackson spiking again as fans await the release of the movie ‘This is It’ next week in cinemas all over the globe, another art collector appears to be cashing in on the craze.

Christie’s has told the Associated Press that a portrait of the late pop star created by Andy Warhol will go on sale in New York on Nov. 10.

The art work (pictured), which is 30 inches by 26 inches, is a silk-screened portrait that Warhol created in 1984. It shows a smiling Jackson wearing a jacket from his ‘Thriller’ era, with red and yellow lines in his hair.

Christie’s expects the portrait to fetch between an estimated $500,000 to $700,000, according to the report. Brett Gorvy, deputy chairman at the auction house, stated that the seller is an anonymous private collector in New York who bought the portrait from the Andy Warhol Foundation in the 1990s.

Warhol created a series of silk-screened images of Jackson around 1984. A portrait similar to the one hitting the block in November was sold for more than $1 million by a Long Island gallery in August, about two months after the singer’s death.

The Nov. 10 auction will feature 47 lots, including two other Warhol paintings, according to the AP.
