Last season, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra celebrated its 40th anniversary with concerts featuring the talents of conductor Neville Marriner, cellist Yo-Yo Ma and pianist Jonathan Biss, among many others.

Starting next week, those concerts will be broadcast on KUSC-FM (91.5) every Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m., according to the music group. The series of 10 broadcasts will feature commentary by LACO music director Jeffrey Kahane and other musicians and guest artists.

The concerts were recorded live at venues such as Royce Hall at UCLA, the Broad Stage in Santa Monica and the Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena. The broadcast series will conclude Dec. 20.

This Sunday’s broadcast will include performances of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and Stravinsky’s ‘Pulcinella’ Suite. The concert, which was conducted by Marriner with Kahane at the piano, was recorded Sept. 27, 2008, at the Ambassador Auditorium.

American Public Media is scheduled to carry the Nov. 15 broadcast of a concert that features cellist Ma (above) performing works by Osvaldo Golijov.
