Bowl

Fans who were hoping to attend the Oct. 3 "¡Bienvenido Gustavo!" concert at the Hollywood Bowl but were turned away at the box office in August now have a way to participate in the event.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic announced today that it will show the concert for free on its website in high definition. Viewers can go to the orchestra's official site to experience the concert beginning at 4 p.m.

All individual performances from the concert will be available on demand for 24 hours beginning at 10 a.m. on Oct. 4.

This marks the first time that a concert at the Hollywood Bowl will be shown on the Internet, according to the orchestra.

The concert will feature ensembles and youth groups from around the Southern California area. Gustavo Dudamel -- the L.A. Philharmonic's new music director -- will conduct the Youth Orchestra of L.A. and the Philharmonic.

AND he will conduct the Los Angeles Master Chorale augmented with representatives of 8 other Los Angeles area choruses.

To be more precise and to the best of my knowledge as of today, he will first conduct the Youth Orchestra of LA (in an arrangement of "Ode to Joy"), and then lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra in a complete performance of the Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, joined in the last movement by the Los Angeles Master Chorale augmented with representatives of several (possibly as many as eight) other LA area choruses.

ALSO before the youth orchestra and the LA Phil, there will be other artists performing under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel. For more details on who's performing, go to http://www.hollywoodbowl.com/bienvenido/bienvenido.cfm

I wish I got ticket to see this performance.

No, Delia, Gustavo Dudamel is only conducting the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles (in an arrangement of Beethoven's Ode to Joy) and then the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra in a complete performance of the Beethoven's Ninth Symphony (joined in the final movement by four vocal soloists and a large mixed choir). The other performers in this program are not directed by the Maestro.

unfortunately i couldn't make it to this welcome concert.

but i just received confirmation i won lottery tickets to watch Gustavo Dudamel's inaugural concert this thursday evening at the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion! :)

are these things black tie events even if we're just watching on plasma screens?
