It turns out that ‘An Evening without Monty Python’ is going to be an evening without one of its main attractions.

Promoters for the stage production announced today that actor Hank Azaria has withdrawn from the show due to a film commitment. Stepping into the production will be Jeff B. Davis, a comedy and improv actor who has also appeared in several TV series.

The other cast members include Jane Leeves, Alan Tudyk, Rick Holmes and Jim Piddock.

‘An Evening without Monty Python’ is set to play 10 performances in Hollywood, Sept. 23-Oct. 4, at the Ricardo Montalbán Theatre. It will then open in New York for five performances at the Town Hall, starting Oct. 6.

As Culture Monster originally reported, the 80-minute show will consist of short musical numbers and skits from past Python productions but featuring non-Python actors. Eric Idle is set to co-direct the show with B.T. McNicholl.

Azaria is best known for his work on TV’s ‘The Simpsons,’ as well as the film ‘The Birdcage.’
