A cold KO'd Topol, who expects to be OK for the rest of his 'Fiddler' run

August 3, 2009 |  9:13 pm

Topol After missing three shows in eight days, Topol expects to be back onstage Tuesday night and for the rest of his run as Tevye in "Fiddler on the Roof" at the Pantages Theatre, says a producer of the show's national tour.

A cold kept the 73-year-old actor out of action for the two performances on Sunday, said Jennifer Howey, associate producer for Troika Entertainment, in a written release Monday evening.

"Fearing long-term damage if he sang through it, Topol and producers made the difficult decision to rest his voice instead," Howey said. As a result, she said, Topol reported on Monday -- a scheduled day off for the show -- that he expects to be "100%" for the rest of the run.

Previous posts on his missed performances are here and here.
